Pope Paul VI continued down the path of John XXIII. He decided to “open the windows of the Vatican and let some fresh air in” by starting Vatican II — a pastoral council, not a dogmatic one. With all the years of The Instruction and tradition being thrown out the window, and no opposition to communism, things would not go well.
It is said that Pope Paul VI, in his later years, regretted and was very paranoid about the changes he had brought about. These changes included a new Mass and all the novelties that came with it.
