Pope Francis was elected and took the position of the pope but would not live in the Vatican apartments and would not act as the pope by wearing the traditional vestments or garb or carry the staff which was a symbol of his rule.

He had been a very liberal person and was possibly a communist before and even after his being elected to the Chair of Peter.

It is possible that now since the previous pope is dead he may receive the graces to perform his position.

He did, in a modernist fashion, Consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary shortly before Pope Benedict died seemingly because of Russia's war with Ukraine.
